2026 Turkey Bowl

WHAT

The premier Annual HASB-KC Event. An evening of hockey to raise awareness and funds for the fight against Pancreatic Cancer. An evening of hockey to celebrate the Kansas City Hockey Community and how cool it is. To honor the memory of Bob Klem, the champion of the KC Hockey Community's fight against Pancreatic Cancer.

WHEN

Wednesday, November 25, 2026, at the Kansas City Ice Center and Pavilion - 19900 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS 66218 - 6:00 pm – 9:15 pm.

REGISTER

Registration will open mid-September. Jersey orders must be placed by October 15th. So don't wait until the last minute.

We will make every effort to keep players together who want to play together.  We apologize if we were unable to accommodate all requests.

Last year, we allowed minors to play in the HASB Turkey Bowl. Please email skate@hasbkc.org if you wish to register a player under 18 to play in the event. The requirement for anyone under 18 to play is:

1. They have the skill level (High School, AA, AAA level), 
2. They raise $500 in donations for the event (friends, family, parents, co-workers) 

Bob was always open to letting kids who fundraised play in the games if they played at an AA or AAA Travel Hockey Skill Level.  

As long as everyone has fun, nobody gets hurt.

SCHEDULE

• 4:00 – 10:30 pm - We will use both rinks at KCIC

RULES and STUFF

• All players get a KC Bier Company Beer and a couple of slices of Pizza.
  • Pizza runs will occur at 7:15 pm, then at 8:15 pm, and then at 9:15 pm. This way, everyone gets a shot at a warm slice of pizza.
• Gatorade and soda will also be provided.
  • Play nice and share with everyone.
• Please visit the Auction table for a chance to bid on some very cool auction items.
• Invite Friends and Family to attend. If they want food or drink, please have them patronize the KCIC concession stand. 
• Keep the place neat.
• No nudists in the lobby. Do not walk through the lobby in a towel and sandals. If you want to shower, please wear clothes to the shower.
• We will design a souvenir program for this year's event.
  • Please take your copy and share it with friends and family over the holiday.
  • A QR code is on the back cover for anyone who wishes to support HASB-KC.
  • If you do not want to keep the program, please turn it in at the sign-in desk. We can use them for other events. 

  
  

  Purpose of Event

• The purpose of the Turkey Bowl is to raise funds to fight Pancreatic Cancer.
• Secondary to that purpose is honoring the memory of Bob Klem and what he started: getting together for some hockey, beer, pizza, and companionship.
• Thirdly, it is to appreciate the season of Thanksgiving.
• Lastly, and least, is to win.
  • Don't hit someone or push them around on the ice. Just don’t do it.
  • If a lesser player than you has the puck, then give them a chance to do something with it.
  • This isn’t the Stanley Cup playoffs.
  • Come tomorrow, no one will care if you won or lost.

  
  

  Jerseys

  Players will be able to order jerseys, but we will play one team wears dark, the other white. 

  T-shirts will be provided to all players. Leftover T-shirts will be available for purchase. 

  
  

  Refreshments

  Each player is welcome to 1 KC Bier Co beer and a couple of slices of pizza. 

  There will be a cooler of bottled water, Gatorade, and soda. 

  
  

  Play Style

  We do not want anyone hurt. We do not want anyone to quit the tournament because they felt they were dominated by ringers (Parent/Kid game is the exception). We do not want to see a highly skilled player dangle their way down through the entire opposite team and score (or blister a slap shot from the blue line at the goalie, or obsessively back-check …). Make the game fun for everyone. Do not escalate things. Hang out with friends. Have a beer and a slice or two of pizza. Cheer some folks on. This is about charity and having fun. If you need to win in this tournament, then perhaps you need to find another tournament. Everyone has fun; nobody gets hurt.
