2024 Turkey Bowl - Schedule of Events

Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the Kansas City Ice Center and Pavillion - 19900 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS 66218 - 6:00 pm – 9:15 pm.

You must be registered, have paid, and signed the on-line waiver to participate.

Each team gets a locker room for the entire event.

Each player must bring their own Dark (preferably BLACK) and WHITE Jersey. (See note below).

  • C/D and Women’s Games are 2x22.5 minute running clock periods with a 3-minute warm-up and a 1-minute intermission. Photos will be taken of the teams PRIOR to the game. Warm up, get your lids off, and line up for a photo, please.

  • A/B Parent/Kid Game will have 3x15 minute running clock periods with a 3-minute warm-up and a 1-minute intermission. Photos will be taken of the teams PRIOR to the game. Warm up, get your lids off, and line up for a photo, please.

  • Side Note about A/B Parent/Kid Game: Rosters have been set up so that the kids play the kids and the adults play against the adults. Line changes should occur en masse – if one guy goes off, switch it up. Just like Tuesday/Thursday Lutz League games.

  • Second Side Note about A/B Parent/Kid Game:  – the Rousseau’s will play net and will switch up between periods in the following order:

First Period and first 7.5 Minutes of Second Period - Josh (Home) vs. Jensen (Away)

Remainder of Second Period and Third Period - Jensen (Away) vs. Josh (Home)

There are 5 minors (under the age of 18) who are playing in these games. They have all fund-raised $400 each plus their registration fee in order to play in the game. Bob was always open to letting kids who fund-raised play in the games if they played at a AA or AAA Travel Hockey Skill Level. So be aware that if you fire a slap shot you might hit a kid in the head with a puck. Don’t do that. Everyone has fun; nobody gets hurt.

    Jerseys

Jerseys and T-shirts will be handed out as players check into the game.

For each game, one team will wear dark, the other white. If the Jersey that you received from the tournament is Dark or White and you are on a Dark or White Team then you are in luck – wear your new Jersey! Otherwise, you will have to wait until next year to order one of the opposite color and, in the meantime, you can use your own Dark or White Jerseys.

    Refreshments

Each player is welcome to 1 KC Bier Co beer and a couple of slices of pizza. There will be a cooler of bottled water, Gatorade, and soda. Grab one of those as well if you wish. After that please patronize the fine refreshment concessions at KCIC. Please drink responsibly so that everyone makes it home safe to loved ones. Everyone has fun; nobody gets hurt.

    Play Style

We do not want anyone hurt. We do not want anyone to quit the tournament because they felt they were dominated by ringers (Parent/Kid game is the exception). We do not want to see a highly skilled player dangle their way down through the entire opposite team and score (or blister a slap shot from the blue line at the goalie, or obsessively back-check …). Make the game fun for everyone. Do not escalate things. Hang out with friends. Have a beer and a slice or two of pizza. Cheer some folks on. This is about charity and having fun. If you need to win in this tournament, then perhaps you need to find another tournament. Everyone has fun; nobody gets hurt.

We tried to keep players together that wanted to play together. We apologize if we were unable to accommodate all requests.
